AI Plus Nova 5G: Surprising Performance in a Budget 5G Smartphone

AI Plus Nova 5G Review: A Budget Smartphone That Punches Above Its Weight

Design and Display

The AI Plus Nova 5G brings a refreshing aesthetic to the budget smartphone segment. Its boxy, minimalistic design gives off a premium vibe—something you'd typically expect from pricier models. The device feels lightweight and sleek, making it incredibly comfortable to hold and use for extended periods.

I’ve been using the green variant, but it’s also available in blue, white, pink, purple, and black, catering to a wide range of preferences. The rear camera setup is housed in a subtle rectangular island, blending seamlessly with the back panel.

One of the highlights of this design is its stable flat-surface performance—there’s barely any wobble. Also, to help maintain grip and avoid smudges, the phone includes a protective case right out of the box.

The smartphone features a 6.7-inch HD+ display, which is great for everyday tasks like browsing, watching videos, or social media scrolling. Although not Full HD, it’s crisp enough for most casual users.

Performance and Battery Life

Under the hood, the AI Plus Nova 5G is powered by the Unisoc T8200 processor and runs on the brand’s custom Next OS—a lightweight skin based on Android 15. The best part? No bloatware. That's rare in this price range.

The Next OS brings a clean and snappy user experience. Everyday tasks like WhatsApp messaging, Instagram scrolling, and even YouTube streaming are smooth and responsive.

In terms of battery, the 5,000mAh unit holds up remarkably well. During my two-week usage, I consistently got around 8 to 9 hours of screen time on moderate usage. This includes social media, video streaming, and light reading.

Camera Performance

The phone comes with a 50MP main camera and a 5MP selfie shooter. While the specs are solid on paper, real-world results are a mixed bag.

In good lighting, you can expect decent photos with vibrant colours, but details can be a bit soft, especially in textured areas. Low-light shots tend to lack clarity, and the overall image quality may not satisfy users looking for professional results.

Portrait mode does a fair job with edge detection but applies a beauty filter-like smoothing that makes the shots look less natural.

In short, it’s good enough for casual shots and social media, but not for those who prioritize camera quality.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy It?

At just ₹7,999, the AI Plus Nova 5G offers incredible value for money. It looks and feels like a much more expensive phone, offers smooth day-to-day performance, has no bloatware, and comes with a reliable battery. While the camera is its weakest link, it still delivers enough for most casual users.

If you're looking for a budget 5G smartphone that delivers where it matters most—design, performance, and battery life—the AI Plus Nova 5G is definitely worth considering.
